Unfortunately, I've not been able to do anything out in the garage for a while, as I have been struck down ill. I am feeling better now, but am distracted by doing things to the house this weekend. Having said that, I did get as far as buying the stuff I need to paint the garage floor today. Not sure when I'll get around to doing it, maybe next weekend if weather permits, as I will need to get as much stuff as possible off the floor, and that includes having to leave the car out for a few days.

Time flies. I'm not sure what I've been doing for the intervening two weeks, but it obviously wasn't working on the car. It has been far too cold for that lark... or I'm getting old. Or both. Anyway, this weekend promised to be much milder so I decided it was a good time to paint the garage floor.
I figured the best way to do it is in two parts, as this will avoid me having to find somewhere for everything on the shelves and the bench etc. So part one is from the door, up to the shelves - for this I'll need to leave the car out for a few days whilst I do the two coats and leave it to dry. Part two will be with the car back in, and pile everything around it.

So, I started with a good sweep of the floor which created a large pile of dust and something of a dustcloud too. After that I used an old mop to mop the floor which picked up a bit more of the dust. Then I painted the first coat, which I thinned down a bit - to stretch the paint and bit further, and the first one will soak in quite a bit.
Of course, had I checked the weather forecast beyond temperature, I would have know it was going to rain. And sure enough, it did. So I had to construct some sort of a cover for the bottom of the garage door, where the floor sticks out a bit.

Got the second coat of paint down on the floor. The first one was a still very slightly tacky, but I need to crack on. I guess this just means that I'll need to leave the car out for a bit longer than I had planned, to ensure that it goes off properly and doesn't just peel off. Second coat went on a bit easier, and the coverage looks ok - can't be any worse than the dust bath that it used to be!

I checked the floor yesterday morning and it seemed miraculously dry. So I left it for another 24 hours, and it still seemed miraculously dry. So I pushed the car back in this morning, as the weather forecast is for more rain later and I'd rather be able to put it in dry than wet. So we'll see how it fairs - hope it holds out!

So this evening I took advantage of the lighter evenings to move everything at the top end of the garage, then sweep, mop, and get the first coat of paint down on the remainder of the floor. All being well I should be able to get it all finished by the weekend... might even get to do some work on the car!

Second coat of paint done on the top end of the floor, with the intention that it will be dry by the weekend so I can put the garage back into a state of being organised.
