It's winter hibernation, but new year, new impetus, and all that! Time for thoughts to turn to improving weather and longer days, and toy cars to play with.
Committed readers may recall that I moved house last year, which put me back to square one garage-wise, in that I now have an unpainted, unpowered garage with an unboarded loft space. All of these things I intend to rectify.
Before I can sensibly use the garage, I need light and power. So my first project is to get power from my house to the garage with a 50m spur circuit from the main fusebox. I have drawn up a plan for this, and it's been checked by an electrician friend who will come to connect and check it all at the end.
So I spent a load of cash at the electrical wholesalers to buy all the bits I need, and spent a few hours dismantling the inside of my house to conceal a cable run from the fusebox at the front, to the kitchen wall at the back.

Two weekends of digging later, and I now have a cable buried all the way from my house into my garage. It all went mostly as expected, though I have to admit I wussed out of lifting all the slabs down the path so I could lay the cable safely down the middle, it will have to do as it is for now.
I also started fitting in the garage, as I have got the consumer unit up, and the pattresses for the light switches. Next I need to carry on fitting the garage, get the armoured cable into the house, and look at getting it all connected up. Still plenty to do before I can flick the switch!
