Another run out this weekend, this time with a group of other cars from cam7. Today it's a run up to the north Norfolk coast - it's sort of traditional for cam7 to have an annual summer run to the coast somewhere.
So it's a reasonably early start to get to the meet up point, unfortunately the night before is catching up with me, so I'm keen just to get on the road and get on with things. After a while of standing around we are off, and immediately the group (we are 8 cars strong) is fragmented so I hang around to wait for the lurkers at the back.
This is the general trend all the way there, though some mechanical problems for others don't help the situation much! After a few hours we arrive at Wells-next-the-Sea, and search out the beach car park. The weather has been looking threatening all day, but fortunately the showers have held off so far, and it is quite pleasantly sunny between the clouds.
We spend a few hours milling around, searching out the local fish and chips, and taking in the pleasant scenery. Just as we are gathering ourselves up to head for home, the rain finally comes - but we've done well to get this far without getting wet! I head off on my own on the way back because it is clear it is going to rain, and I know where I am going, so just want to get on with it. On the way home I pass through the heaviest hailstorm I have had the pleasure of driving the Westfield in. Naturally I got very wet, but I was still laughing all the way!

Yet another day out today - I'm really enjoying just using the car at the moment, especially as the weather is being quite good to us at the moment. Today I am heading off up to Snetterton to watch the racing - Matt is racing his Caterham in the Graduates series, and doing a pretty good job of it, winning his first race a few weeks ago. Also he, and another cam7 lurker, is racing in the 2CV 24hr race which kicks off at 4pm.
Unfortunately I had a pretty naff start to the day, waking up really early, so I end up making use of the time to clean the car before heading out. When I eventually get on the road to Snetterton I hit some horrible traffic on the A11, and end up turning around (no reverse remember!) on the A11, and heading for the A0165. Seemed like a great idea, but I soon ran into more traffic for a couple of miles at Brandon.
I finally make it to Snetterton at lunchtime, shortly before Matts race. Again the weather is pretty glorious, so it's really nice just to laze around watching the racing action. Matt did really well in his race, after a slightly disappointing qualifying 10th. He was very close to getting a podium but just lost out on the last lap of the 40 minute race.
We hung around for the first couple of hours of the 2CV race, as they are always very entertaining, the sight of 30 odd 2CVs hurtling around is really something! Even after almost two hours the top 8 or 10 cars were all still really close - and there had also been something like 5 engine changes already! Another great day out.

22nd June 2003
I've been using the car quite a bit since returning from Ireland, just because I am having quite alot of fun driving the car. So today it is in need of another good clean as it is accumulating alot of flies in the nice weather, even though it's not all that dirty.
After the clean and a good check over, I tuck it away in the garage, and will leave it be for a couple of weeks now I think, if I can resist...
